Tarn Ridge Hut: Tararua Ranges

Outlook: Located on the tops at about 1370m.

Heating: Wood stove but lack of wood! - only limited supply of leatherwood!
Useful info: Built in c1993 with plenty of space and good sunny sheltered east facing tussock basin 2 minutes from ridge to replace old hut an hour to north.  Often used for crossings, extended traverses and hunting parties. Good access to Dorset Ridge Hut not far away. Original hut built as a memorial to Basil Blanchford who perished in 1959 nearby (memorial cross remains).
