Replaced by Vosseler Hut 25 minutes to north c1959, then rebuilt on current (original) site 1978. Buffeted by westerly gales. Can be easily missed in whiteout conditions. Part of the classic southern crossing route. Sturdy but generally cold (no heating). About 2 to 3 hours from Field Hut depending on conditions and 45 minutes to Mt Hector. Allow 3 hours or so to Alpha Hut, but very dependent on conditions. Route is well marked and click link on the location map below for more route info.
