Daphne Hut: Ruahine Ranges

Outlook: Located on a terrace on true left just upstream of forks in Tukituki River at about 600 m. The hut is located in a pleasant clearing amongst the beech forest.  A resting spot before the grunt up to Howletts and the tops and a haven if the river is in flood.

History: Original hut built in 1920s by Charlie Thompsen, wrecked by tree fall in c1940. NZFS hut constructed in 1960s and then subsequently added to.
